July 5, 2024 - Naval Group Launches Third Belgian-Dutch Minehunter Ship - Naval Group has introduced the third ship of a mine countermeasure (MCM) vessel program between the Belgian and Dutch navies. Awarded to the company in 2019, the effort will construct six modern minehunters for Brussels and another six for Amsterdam. Each will be based on Naval Group’s City-class MCM design to sustain uniformity between systems of both navies and cooperative dominance at sea. Read more

July 12, 2024 - Netherlands ensures Ukrainian F-16 fighter jets stay armed - The Dutch government is going all out to ensure the F-16 fighter jets headed to Ukraine become formidable operational weapons. Recent reports indicate Amsterdam has decided to increase its military aid in the F-16 armament sector threefold. In simpler terms – the ammunition planned by the Netherlands for these F-16s has been tripled.  Read more

July 23, 2024 - Embraer to Supply Nine Millennium Airlifters for Netherlands, Austria - Embraer has received a contract to deliver nine C-390 Millennium transport aircraft for a joint military acquisition program between the Dutch and Austrian governments. Signed at an aerospace convention in England, the agreement stipulates five systems for the Royal Netherlands Air Force and four for the Austrian Air Force. Embraer wrote that the procurement supports the nations’ efforts to expand their logistics capabilities for international warfighter deployment and evacuations under austere conditions. Read more

July 23, 2024 - Lead Belgian-Dutch City-Class Minehunter Begins Maiden Sea Trials - Belgium Naval & Robotics has started initial sea trials of the City-class mine countermeasure (MCM) vessel in a joint procurement between Belgium and the Netherlands. Launched in 2019, the initiative will produce 12 advanced minehunter ships, half of which will be delivered to Brussels and the other half to Amsterdam. For the tests, the program’s lead ship “Oostende” (M 940) will complete propulsion and navigation demonstrations in operational sea surface conditions. Read more

July 25, 2024 - Europe sends new Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine after rigorous testing - Ukraine is set to receive new German-made Leopard 2 tanks, according to the Dutch Ministry of Defense. The delivery includes 14 tanks provided as military aid from the Netherlands and Denmark. Reports indicate these tanks have undergone rigorous testing over the past month and are now ready for deployment in Ukraine.  Read more

June 07, 2024 - Dutch invest in building tanks for Ukraine, developing drones - The Netherlands and Denmark are putting a combined €400 million into a Swedish fund to build a total of 230 armoured tanks for Ukraine, most of which will be built in the Netherlands by an “important and established” Dutch company, defence minister Kajsa Ollongren said on Friday. June 03, 2024 - Military Training for 300 Ukrainian Marines - The Netherlands has concluded a secretive training project for 300 Ukrainian marines to support them in the conflict in their country. The four-month effort provided amphibious lessons for the troops with the support of Dutch Marine Corps specialists. Other preparations focused on trench-based deployments and urban warfare tactics.
