March 19, 2025 - Robot Dogs Featured in US-South Korea Drills for Tunnel Warfare Training - Robot dogs are quickly becoming a game-changer in modern warfare, and the US and South Korea are making sure they stay at the forefront of this technological revolution. Earlier this month, the two countries conducted a joint exercise aimed at refining tunnel warfare tactics and demonstrating the capabilities of quadrupedal unmanned ground vehicles (Q-UGVs) in navigating hidden, underground battlegrounds. Korea Eyes Faster Weapons Deployment With Bottom-Up Approach - South Korea is finalizing a bottom-up acquisition approach for faster weapons development and deployment, Chosun Daily reported. The proposed framework would allow defense companies to influence military requirements by proposing new systems during the early stages. April 8, 2025 - South Korea Fires Warning Shots as North Korean Troops Briefly Cross Border - South Korea’s military said Tuesday its troops fired warning shots when around 10 North Korean soldiers briefly crossed the heavily fortified border that divides the peninsula. The troops were spotted around 5 pm (0800 GMT) in the demilitarized zone between the two countries, parts of which are heavily mined and overgrown. Read more

May 23 - South Korea Says No Talks With US on Potential Troop Pullout - South Korea’s defense ministry said Friday there have been no talks with Washington on pulling US troops from the South, after a Wall Street Journal report claimed Washington was considering a partial withdrawal. Citing US defense officials, the WSJ report said Washington is considering whether to move around 4,500 troops out of South Korea and deploy them to other locations, including Guam. Read more
