Netherlands-Korea-NATO Defense R&D Seminar
On June 28th, 2023, the NIDV organized a seminar for members of the PIB and members of the Defence and Security industry in South-Korea. This was done in cooperation with the KRIT(Korea Research Institute for defense Technology planning and advancement) which is organization of KCEF & DIF 2023 (Korea Defense Component and Equipment Fair & Advanced Defense Industry Fair 2023), the Dutch Ministry for foreign affairs, the ministry for economic affairs and climate and the embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Korea.
Participants could attend the event both virtually and in person, allowing even those who couldn't make the journey to South-Korea to attend the seminar and listen to the speakers.
The event was opened by the Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands Joanne Doornewaard, who spoke through a video messeage on the importance of the relationship between the Netherlands and South-Korea.
During the seminar, representatives of knowledge institutions like TNO, NLR, and EULJI research center of Kaist spoke about their respective organisations and research goals. In addition, former NIDV Director Ron Nulkes spoke on the structure of and interaction with NATO and senior research with KRIT Dr. Park Jae-Woo spoke about the collaborative R&D program in the field of Defence and Security.
Thanks to the knowledge and experience of the speakers, the seminar provided a valuable insight into their respective topics and the relationship between The Netherlands, South Korea, and NATO.
