The latest on Australian-Dutch cooperation towards sustainable waste management

7-16 May 2024

Meet the Dutch from 7th to 16th of May in Brisbane, Sydney or Coffs Harbour

After successful trade missions to the Waste Expo in Melbourne and last year’s Waste Conference in Perth, the Dutch WasteBAN cluster of companies will present itself at the Australian east coast this May. At this point the companies Adverio Waste Systems, Blue Phoenics, DutchPowerGroup, Hofstetter, MetaSus and van der Hoeven Horticultural Projects will be there, and more are expected. The Dutch Agency for Water Management (Rijkswaterstaat) and the Royal Netherlands Embassy will support the cluster. If you cannot make it to Coffs Harbour, you have a chance to meet the delegation in Brisbane (7-8 May) or Sydney (9-13 May). Hope to see you in May!

Benchmarking Webinar Governance Modelling with the City of Melbourne

Melbourne 9 (M9) is an alliance of the nine inner Melbourne councils that work together on projects of mutual interest. It includes the cities of Melbourne, Stonnington, Port Phillip, Yarra, Moonee Valley, Maribyrnong, Moreland, Hobsons Bay and Darebin. One of the focus areas is waste and circular economy. In this area, Melbourne is exploring the possibility of regionalisation of waste services, with a special focus on food and garden organics and recyclables. A first webinar was organised with the WasteBAN team to explore models of regional cooperation in waste management practiced in the Netherlands. Specific cases presented were HVC and Rd4. In the last week of March a follow-up webinar will be held where Dutch technology options for sound waste management and circular economy will be presented.
